Last updated: 14 October 2026 · Covers FizzleFoil for Mac, iPhone and iPad, and Windows
FizzleFoil does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Everything it does happens on your own device and the backup drive you choose.
Mac: with your permission, FizzleFoil reads your Photos library, Contacts, Calendars and Reminders, and the iCloud Drive folders you choose in its Open window. macOS asks you before FizzleFoil can read each of these, and you can withdraw permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
iPhone and iPad: with your permission, FizzleFoil reads your Photos library, Contacts, Calendars and Reminders. iOS asks first, and you can withdraw permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security.
Windows: FizzleFoil reads the folders iCloud for Windows keeps on your PC (iCloud Photos and iCloud Drive) and any other folders you add yourself.
FizzleFoil only reads from these places. It never changes or deletes anything in them. The single exception is Restore to Photos on Mac, iPhone and iPad, which adds photos from your backup back into your Photos library, and only when you choose to.
Copies are written to the backup drive or folder you choose, and nowhere else. FizzleFoil has no servers and sends nothing over the internet. When a photo or file is stored only in iCloud, your device downloads it from Apple's iCloud service so it can be copied (on Windows, iCloud for Windows does this). That is handled under your Apple Account and Apple's own privacy policy, and nothing is sent to us.
FizzleFoil remembers your own choices (your backup drive, what to back up, your schedule) on your Mac, iPhone, iPad or PC. They stay there, are never transmitted, and are removed if you delete the app. A record of what has been backed up is kept on your backup drive, inside the backup itself.
If you allow them, FizzleFoil shows notifications on your device when a backup finishes. They are created and shown locally.
FizzleFoil is a general-purpose backup utility. It collects no data from anyone, including children.
